Before going to answering that let me ask
you a question. Who is searching for peace? Is it you?
Or is that your soul? Human being is a combination of
body and soul. So you need to know whether you are
seeking peace for the soul or for your body. For example
if you have a headache you know you need to take pills
that relieves headache. There is no sense in taking the
medicine that fixes an upset stomach when you have a
headache. Likewise you have to take the right "medicine"
to bring peace to your soul. There is no point in
consuming tons of medicine that addresses your physical
body or those drugs and alcohol that help you put your
body on a temporary escape mode with no gain for the
soul and eventually bring a lot of damage to the body.
So we agree that soul needs its own nourishment to be
healthy and peaceful. Our soul is not a matter of this
material world. It is from the unseen spiritual world.
Here is what God answered when people inquired about the
soul.
And they ask you about
the soul. Say, "The soul is something from the command
of my Lord, and you are not given from the knowledge but
a little. Holy Quran Chapter 17 (Bani Israel / Children
of Israel) Verse 85.
So the soul is from the spiritual world. So its
nourishment should also come from the spiritual world.
There is absolutely no point in trying to stuff anything
that is man-made be it music, writings or anything that
you think of. None of them are going to nourish your
soul. Its nourishment is only in that which comes from
the creator. It must be free from any human
contamination. If you are willing to take that
"medicine" from the spiritual world then you will be at
peace.
The nourishment of the soul is in the divine revelations
from the God Almighty. A revelation has to be free from
any human interpolation to keep it pure. There are many
revelations out in the world dating back to
centuries. One has to exercise caution and use his God
given skill of analyzing what is pure and what is
contaminated before He prepares to accept it for his
soul.
